There's No Place Like Home

New shoes, new website, new inspiration.

Dorothy in the Wizard Of Oz clicked her heels 3x saying "there's no place like home". She then regained consciousness and found herself back in her auntie's home, surrounded by people she cared about, who were happy she had finally woke up from her dream-like state.

I recently received a gift of some new shoes- bright red sandals with clunky heels and adjustable straps. At first my friends and I laughed at the loud colour, presumptuous heels I've never had on previous footwear, and the fact that I live rurally and have nowhere fancy to go in them.

I accepted the gracious gift and brought them home anyway. The next day, while alone, I put them on and walked around the room. They really fit well! They didn't hurt my bad toe joint! They made me feel like maybe now is my time to "live out loud", to reclaim my creative side, to claim my right to wear funky shoes, bright non-matching clothes, and dig being a senior who refuses to shrink into the background of anyone's story including my own.

I have an upcoming exhibit I entered 3 paintings into. I don't care if they sell or not. I'm going to work on getting my art out there so others can view the scenery and objects of beauty that I have access to on a regular basis.

So, as Dorothy did, I'm clicking my heels and saying to my new home province, Nova Scotia, "there's no place like home" because I finally feel like I'm home and waking up to a new season of creativity.

How about you? Do you feel at home? Are you feeling creative or stuck? Wear red. It may change your perspective!
