About Me

Here's More About Me and My Work
My Thoughts:
Every piece is a mindful balance of movement, light, colour and mood. My paintings allow me to translate lived moments into enduring visual memories inspired by places and seasons. My creative interests shift with the seasons, and are guided by what land and sea place in my path.
My Philosophy:
Art is a dialogue between material and feeling – a process of listening, not speaking. Each work becomes a conversation with imperfection, where color breathes and silence reveals meaning. The goal is to translate emotion into form – to make the invisible visible.
My Process:
The creative process depends on the work:
For paintings, I uses various references and styles either in studio via reference photos, or pleinair on site. I work mostly in acrylics and water soluable oils in a style somewhere between between impressionism and photorealism. Since I love the challenge of replicating details, I gravitate more towards the latter style than the former. Although I am mostly self-taught, I continuously hone my craft through experimentation and learning from other artists who share their tips with me.
My paintings can be seen in private collections throughout Ontario. Others have been displayed in several of the juried "Art In The Workplace" exhibitions at McMaster Innovation Park, Hamilton Ontario, The Flora Hall Gallery and ArtsPlace Gallery in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia.
For current driftwood works, I clean and sand pieces collected from various shorelines around Nova Scotia, then create lamps and sculptures out of the differing sizes, shapes and colours of driftwood . The sculptures emerge from collected driftwood and raw materials, each piece honouring the story etched by wind and tide.
For functional interior mosaics, I begin with studying the space - light, scale, and energy - then turns the vision into reality using reclaimed ceramics or natural raw materials.
